Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, March 25, 26, 28 from 6-8PM & Good Friday, March 29th from 5:30-7PM. Free Admission; tickets required by registering at www.spartaefc.org. The Journey with Jesus Walk is an interactive venture into the history-altering life of Jesus Christ. The purpose of the Walk is twofold: to give those who know nothing about Jesus the opportunity to explore His life, teachings and plan for mankind, and to remind believers of the great cost He paid on the world’s behalf. Each area along the Walk represents a certain aspect of Jesus’ life or teachings and serves to educate and challenge both non-believers and believers.
Maundy Thursday Christian Seder With Covered Dish Dinner
A Christian Seder will be held in the Fellowship Hall at Overlook United Methodist Church. Experience the relationship of the Jewish Passover Seder to Jesus’ interpretation of the meal, and its symbolic relevance to both traditions. The items on the Seder plate form the foundation from which the menu of the covered dish supper is created: Lamb (or chicken) dishes, green vegetable or potato dishes, dishes with apples and nuts, egg dishes (devilled eggs, omelets, etc), salads of romaine lettuce or a horseradish dip. The bread for the meal is unleavened, usually Matzah bread is used. Thus, Matzah ball soup is also acceptable as a shared dish. Holy Communion will be served as a part off the meal, as Jesus instituted it at the Last Supper. A free will offering will be taken. Service starts at 6:30PM.
Maundy Thursday Lamb Dinner and Worship
A lamb dinner in the church hall followed by candlelight worship in the sanctuary.
Messiah in the Passover Demonstration
Chosen People Ministries is hosting a Messiah in the Passover, which will begin with the traditional Passover Seder table, complete with all the articles of this important Jewish celebration. Messiah in the Passover gives the Christian community insight into Jewish traditions so that the Jewish roots of Christianity can be better understood. This program also helps the Jewish and Christian communities understand their common heritage.
A love offering will be received.
