The Vernon United Methodist Church located at 303 Church Street and Route 94 in Vernon is planning to have a VBS. It's theme this year is Kingdom Rock. An epic adventure awaits as kids stand strong for God! The dates are August 12- August 16. The Church has planned lots of fun and excitement for children Pre K through 6th grade, including arts, crafts, songs and games, bible stories and snacks. The last day will be a HOT DOG A RAMA. The Red Hook Area Council of Churches will sponsor a community Vacation Bible School August 12-16 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at St. John's Reformed Church, 126 Old Post Rd. N. in Upper Red Hook. Children ages 4 years through grade 6 are invited to participate. This year's theme is SonQuest Rainforest: Follow Jesus on a Life-Changing Adventure. Each day will be filled with music, crafts, games as well as stories from the Bible. Safe Harbors of the Hudson, a large scale redevelopment project in the City of Newburgh which combines housing and the arts, is continuing their monthly informational tours on Tuesday, August 13 at 9 am at 111 Broadway, Newburgh. Named Supportive Housing Network of New York’s “Residence of the Year” in 2007, the Cornerstone is home to 128 adults including the formerly homeless, veterans, those living with mental health diagnoses, artists and low income working adults in need of affordable housing. The project includes the Ann Street Gallery, a contemporary arts venue, and the Ritz Theater Lobby, live performing arts space.
All women are invited to attend a luncheon Tuesday, August 13, 2013 from 12:00-2:00 PM at Longfellows Restaurant, Rt. 9P Saratoga. Cost is $13.00 inclusive. Our feature is Alan Carter the historian from the Saratoga Racing Museum. Our speaker, Peggy Craven from Newtown, PA will sing and speak on realizing your dreams when life falls apart.
