40 Days for life, a coordinated international ecumenical campaign to end abortion through prayer and fasting, constant vigil and community outreach, is hosting a kickoff rally for its Fall campaign in Schenectady on September 22, 2014 at 7:00 pm. The kickoff rally will be held at St. Madeleine Sophie Church, located at 3500 Carman Road in Schenectady. The featured speaker will be Georgette Forney, President of Anglicans for Life. All are invited to attend.

DISCOVERING CHRIST is a 7 week series that invites you to explore the purpose of life and experience a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The evening begins with sharing dinner in small groups then moves to viewing and discussing the week’s presentation. All weekly sessions and dinner are free. A one day retreat is scheduled for Saturday, October 25th.

The Newburgh Historical Society will continue its popular Heritage Series this year with an afternoon to enjoy the story of local Irish on Sunday, September 21st. The Newburgh Heritage Center will open its doors at 2:00 P.M. to all interested in experiencing the Irish-American heritage. The Society will debut a new exhibit highlighting notable Irish-American figures of the greater Newburgh area. The Newburgh Firefighters Fife and Drum Band will open the event by leading the public into the Center to the sounds of Celtic music. Food and drinks will be available. Raffle tickets will be sold for an “Irish Basket” filled with goods donated by local vendors. The Newburgh Heritage Center is located on 123 Grand Street. Admission is free to the public.
Non-profit Air Soil Water will be hosting a weekly Farmers Market in Milford, PA. Tri-State Local Farmers and vendors will sell their fresh picked organic produce and foods.
Shokan Wesleyan Community Church sponsored free event outdoor service to start at 1000am. Followed by pig roast feast, hamburgers/hotdogs. Activities inc: hot road car show, motorcycle show, bouncy house, live horses, face painting, several raffles and much more.
