Bible Study at Lyall Memorial Federated
Focuses On Living Out the Gospel
Millbrook—September might mean back-to-school for Millbrook’s children and teens, but it is also adults who are being invited to learn—about God’s Word, that is. Lyall Memorial Federated Church, located at 30 Maple Avenue in the village of Millbrook, opens its doors to for an exciting eight-week Bible study that focuses on how to live out the Gospel in our homes, schools, offices, community and world. The study, “Gospel in Life: Grace Changes Everything,” authored by Rev. Timothy Keller, pastor of Manhattan’s Redeemer Church, features thought-provoking discussions and scripture. Study books are available to those who are interested in delving more deeply.
Lyall Memorial Federated Church’s Bible studies will be held on Thursdays, beginning September 12. Two sessions are offered, one in the afternoon running from 3:30 to 5 p.m. and an evening session from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Each study will open with prayers for the Millbrook community and a time of quiet reflection to center on God and to “be still before God.”
“I am excited about this study because it is one thing to learn scripture and to know it, but how do you let God’s Word lead you into action? How do we become ‘doers’ of the Word and not just ‘hearers’? And I am not talking about just doing good works. I am more interested in how God transforms our hearts, leading us to truly become servants to one another filled with care and compassion,” said The Reverend Donna Frischknecht-Jackson, who was called to Lyall Memorial Federated Church as its new pastor this past July.
