Local Boy Scout Troup Number 26 to Visit The First Presbyterian Church of Wappingers Falls
Since the 60’s, The National Boy Scouts of America has set aside the first Sunday in February for Scouts to go to church. Because the first Sunday is Communion Sunday at The First Presbyterian Church in Wappingers Falls, Scout Sunday will be observed on the third Sunday, February 16. Twenty three to 25 members of Troup 26 will participate in the event. The Troup has visited First Presbyterian Church on Scout Sunday intermittently for many years, and has kept up the practice consistently for the past 5 years.
Troup 26 meets once a week at the Church and engage in a variety of Advancement activities, service projects, and other Scout work. For instance, the group built a garbage shed and painted and shingled the garage at the church.
Pat Ladd is Scout Master. Clint Oestrich, a long-time church member, was Scout Master in1964, keeping the group going, and is currently Assistant Scout Master. The Troup is to be commended for all its good work, and the Church and community appreciate its service.
The church is located at 2568 South Avenue (at Elm Street). For more information you can contact the Church Office at 845-297-2800.
All are welcome to join us.
